Avatars of the top 20 AA bidders in Astro Auctions #Astro Auctions #Leadership #Team Building

Reply by Gery 1 day ago

Hi Erlinda,

Avatars are not REQUIRED, only recommended (plus, if you're an SFI affiliate, you're incentivized with some nice VersaPoints for adding your avatar).

Why not require? Let's say you signed up a new prospect who was ready to buy several thousand TCredits and start bidding...but they couldn't figure out how to create and/or upload their avatar. Would you REALLY want to lose such a person and some big commissions just because they haven't uploaded an avatar yet?

That said, after we get some of the other great features we're still developing in place, we'll definitely be looking at some new creative ways to get as many people as possible to add an avatar. After all, as Gilbert rightly stated, it makes Astro more fun...and more fun is a very good thing! :-)

Quantum prize query in Ask Gery

Reply by Gery 1 day ago

Hi Jordan,

Due to the high cost of providing this prize, it's one of the rarer ones to win...but all wins of Quantum are listed on the Flight Log when they occur. All prizes have to be paid for of course so our programming is set so you'll win lower-value prizes much more often than you'll win higher-value prizes such as Quantum. Hope that makes sense.

Validation of Email Address Before an Account can be opened in Suggestion Box #Getting Started #PSA #Team Building

Maybe this will help everyone understand better...

Let's say your ads have generated 100 new sign-ups (PSAs) this month.

With the current system, out of those 100, 5 entered bad email addresses, but you've still got 95 other people to work with. Not bad at all. Remember, everything about marketing is a numbers game!

Now let's say we changed to a double opt-in system (requiring email verification prior to be allowed to join SFI) as many affiliates want:

You've got the same 5 with a bad email address, but now 20 of those who had a good email address never even got signed up, never got to even see the Affiliate Center, and so your ad only produced 80 sign-ups for you instead of 100.

Why? Because many ISPs treat emails with opt-in links from SFI with "disdain." That is, they either send these emails straight to junk folders where they'll likely never be seen...or, worse, they "tarpit" them which means they don't deliver them AT ALL. Also add to this human nature/laziness (people just flat-out not seeing the email in their inbox or procrastinating so they never complete their sign-up).

So are you better off with SFI using a double opt-in system? NO. You just LOST 20 of your sign-ups, any one of which might have been the next superstar in SFI and who might have made you many thousands of dollars in the years to come!

We HAVE taken the necessary actions. We've weighed out the pluses and minuses of a double opt-in system and the pluses outweigh the minuses. Surely you want to make more money in SFI, not less, right?

To add to the above Knowledge Base article...

It's all about the net. Do you want to put up with an occasional bad email address...or do you want to LOSE boatloads of legitimate sign-ups...people that could make you thousands of dollars...because of bad ISPs that won't deliver our emails? Clearly, putting up with a few bad email addresses is going to make you a lot more money in the long run!

From the 24-hour Knowledge Base at support.sfimg.com...

What does SFI do to ensure a new affiliate's email address is legitimate?

The SFI program emphasizes the importance of confirming an affiliate's email address and encourages them to do so. For example, we list that task high up in their To-Do List (for 150 VP) and list verifying their email address in an early LaunchPad lesson as one of the requirements for entering the popular E365 contest. We also make sure they're aware on the registration page that affiliates with bad email addresses CANNOT HAVE COMMISSIONS PAID TO THEM.

In addition, we don't allow email addresses that don't contain all required parts of a legitimate email address. So, you wouldn't be able to register with, say, joe@mail. The SFI registration form ONLY accepts properly formatted email addresses.

Why don't we REQUIRE email address?

Firstly, not requiring a double opt-in process allows new affiliates to start IMMEDIATELY upon signing up with SFI. No delay. This is BIG. We can't emphasize this enough!

Secondly, we once did require e-mail addresses. In fact, SFI used the double opt-in process for our first 12 years. However, we found that a substantial number of legitimate signups were lost with the double opt-in system because many new Affiliates couldn't find the confirmation email due to their ISP diverting our email to a spam folder or not delivering it all! PLUS...this method has really fallen out of favor on the Internet. Besides, it doesn't really deter anyone who is motivated to generate bogus signups as there's no difficulty in getting a free email address and then confirming it. It's just one extra click.

NOTE: There are still some ISPs that won't deliver our emails, but they WILL deliver YOUR welcome messages–another reason why it's so critical you send out a welcome to your own Personally Sponsored Affiliates (PSAs).

Bottom line: A double opt-in system has more negatives then positives, and some of the proof of that is SFI's substantial growth in SALES and REVENUE since moving away from the double opt-in process.

Long Auction in Astro Auctions #Astro Auctions

That's not how it works. EVERY bidder contributes to meeting the reserve price. People should not bid if they're not willing to let their participation in an auction play out.

As I explained earlier in this thread, Sanjev, this is NOT a no-brainer. Do you REALLY want to create a system where innocent people are being exploited by scammers? We sure don't!
